“JUST CLOSE YOUR EYES, OPEN YOUR MIND AND ENJOY” Authentic emotions; music that expresses the pure exhilaration of living – that’s what you’ll find if you tune in to a new programme on Vienna’s innovative radio station 98.3 Superfly.

A refined selection of top styles including Soul, Jazz, Latin, Brazil, Funk, Afro and Disco is the heart of „Easy Does It“ on air since the beginning of September 2008 every Wednesday starting 8 pm on a radio station that’s known anyway for its exclusive sounds.

The new show focuses on the development and historical roots of afro-american (Vocal-)Music and its links with the Black Music Community, whose vibe, so full of heart and soul, has been capturing audiences since the 50s: Groovy Music Without Boundaries.

The presenters and friends of music Jürgen Drimal, head of the label Vienna Scientists, producer und DJ, and Franz Artner, passionate music collector, are going to go diving for genuine pearls in their almost limitless archive of records that’s been expanding for two decades.

The focus is going to be on the heroes of the genre who have slipped into obscurity, on presenting genuinely rare sounds, on the hottest treasures but also on offbeat, maverick sounds from the collection of records from the two soul brothers „rare as hen’s teeth“ Records, Roots of HipHop, R & B and electronische music, including music to dance to as well as to enjoy in pure listening mode.

The two vinyl addicts have digitalised most of their collection, something that took months, to present a mixture that not only promises genre experts absolute pleasure but also sets it apart from the routine rotation mixes of so many German conventional radio stations.

The programme is named after the classic „Easy Does It“ show produced by Willie Hutch, and the name signposts the road: they’ll be plenty of information about the history of music but not in the form of historical facts. Instead, interesting information will be embedded as part of the entertaining flow of great emotions the presenters – and the listeners soon too – feel whenever they listen to good music.

The veteran soul brothers Drimal and Artner want to capture the elan vital of life intuitively. Background reports about artists, labels and producers, the proper classification of genres, interviews and contemporary events are kept short and sweet, compressed to the essentials.
